Five Notre Dame players to know for Ohio State’s matchup with the Fighting Irish

No. 2 Ohio State hosts No. 5 Notre Dame on Saturday night in the biggest game of Week 1 of the college football season. It’s a contest that’s been talked about all offseason as one that could set the early tone in the race for a College Football Playoff spot and has the potential to be one of the games of the year in the sport.

The Fighting Irish come to Ohio Stadium as big underdogs, however, something head coach Marcus Freeman(*13*) was made aware of during his Monday press conference and something he said he would make known to his team. While the oddsmakers in Las Vegas don’t like Notre Dame’s chances, it’s not going to be because of a lack of talent. This is still a top-five team walking into the Horseshoe and there are quite a few players on the Irish side of the ball who could fit in nicely with any program in the country.

After reviewing the depth chart released by Notre Dame on Monday morning and looking back through the film of the Fighting Irish last season, Bucknuts compiled a list of players Buckeye fans should know and the Scarlet and Gray will need to be aware of heading into this top-five matchup.
