New Delhi- Gold and silver prices rose in early trading on Friday, with 10 grams of the yellow metal (24 karat) trading at Rs 50,890, up Rs 270. Silver prices rose by 1,400 rupees per kilogram, with the metal trading at Rs. 54200.
Ten grams of 22 karat gold is currently trading at Rs 46,650, Rs 250 more than yesterday.
In Mumbai and Kolkata, 24 karat gold is sold for Rs 50,890 per 10 grams, while 22 karat gold is sold for Rs 46,650. 24 karat and 22 karat gold are trading at Rs 51,040 and Rs 46,800 per 10 grams in Delhi, respectively.
In Chennai, 24 karat gold costs Rs 51,600 and 22 karat gold costs Rs 47,300.
Meanwhile, US gold prices rose on Friday, supported by a drop in the dollar, but expectations of further interest rate hikes capped further gains as US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell reiterated the central bank’s commitment to keep inflation in check.
As of 0110 GMT, spot gold was up 0.4% at $1,713.62 an ounce.
US gold futures rose 0.3% to $1,724.90.
