Britney Spears is back on the music scene.

The 40-year-old icon shared on Twitter on Wednesday that she’s releasing her first new song in six years with “one of the most classic men of our time,” Elton John, 75.

“Okie dokie… my first song in 6 years,” she began. “It’s freaking cool that I’m singing with one of the most classic men of our time… Elton John!!!! I’m kind of overwhelmed…this is a big deal for me!!! I meditate more and learn that my space is valuable and precious!!!”

John gave fans a preview of his new track featuring the pop star on Tuesday. That Song “Hold Me Closer” is a reinterpretation of John’s 1971 classic Tiny Dancer. It will be Spears’ first new release since their 2016 studio album Glory.

John gave French guests a taste of the single when he took to Instagram to share an intimate and brief performance at La Guérite in Cannes.

In the video, the “Bennie and the Jets” singer can be seen shaking hands with the DJ at the restaurant and taking a seat to prepare for his performance after undergoing hip surgery last year.

John greeted the crowd while wearing a colorful two-piece set that featured Mickey Mouse on the shirt design, with black and white striped sunglasses accompanied by gold jewellery.

As the song began to play, John introduced it by saying, “OK, ‘Hold Me Closer’.” Britney Spears, Elton John … Let’s go!” He then proceeded to give a look at the track.

At the end of the Instagram video, John thanked the audience and announced that “Hold Me Closer” will be released on Friday.

Spears hasn’t released any new music since her conservatory ended in November. The star stood in the conservatory for 13 years.
