People think they know everything about the devil, but they really don’t know about the devil. In our show it’s really about mothers and daughters and fathers, basically because the Antichrist is born to this beautiful woman that I chose to be the bearer of my spawn. And boy did it work!
Aubrey, what did you bring to the character of Laura as she adjusts to small town life?
Aubrey Plaza- I really try to ground it. She is a complex character. She’s flawed, she’s a single mother, demons follow her every day, and she has to take care of her 13-year-old girl. She’s just doing the best she can.
I’m just trying to bring the truth to her about what it would be like to be a single mom in these circumstances. The stakes are high. She is dying everyday, people are trying to kill her daughter. What are you going to do?
How does Lucy prepare to play the Antichrist?
Lucy DeVito- It’s really simple. The way I approached Chrissy, like Aubrey, is that she’s a real person. I think everyone has a duality, and being a 13-year-old girl can make you feel like a monster sometimes.
